Medical Foundation Workshop on Torture

Sunday 29th June, from 10 am to 4 pm, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Andover Street, Pitsmoor, Sheffield S3 9EE.

A day to discuss the issue of torture - what it is, how it affects survivors, and what support they can get
Speakers from the Medical Foundation, Liberty, Redress, Solace, the Helen Bamber Foundation, Northern Refugee Centre, Amnesty and Sheffield Guantanamo Campaign.
Admissions - £5 (working) (£3 concessions -student, retired etc), free (asylum seekers) - tickets available on the door.

Festival of Islam

The Islamic Society of Britain South Yorkshire presents the Festival of Islam from the 26th - 29th of June 2008 at Mount Pleasant Park in the heart of Sharrow.
Programme of celebration, seminars and discussions including:

‘Muslim women: on the fringe?', Saturday 28th June, 2pm in the marquee at Mount Pleasant Park.

A panel of speakers discuss their experiences as Muslim women, and the various challenges faced in Muslim and secular societies, with a questions and answers session open to the floor after the presentation.

Open Jummah (Friday Prayer)
27th June at 1:15pm at the new Madina MasjidMosque on Wolesley Road, Nether Edge, Sheffield.

A unique opportunity to sit in and listen to the sermon and observe what happens during the prayer. It is open to all, both men and women regardless of faith or non-faith.
