Refugee Week 16th-21st June
These are some of the highlights of Refugee Week this year. For full details of all events, see the Refugee Week leaflet, available at local libraries and venues all over the city centre:
Monday 16th
5pm, Launch of Art & Craft exhibition by Sheffield refugees.
Rear of Sheffield Cathedral. (Exhibition continues throughout the week).
Tuesday 17th,
6.15pm, Almost Adult (film) introduced by Inderjit Bhogal, Chair of City of Sanctuary, at The Showroom Cinema, Paternoster Row, S1 2BX
Wednesday 18th
11am, Children's Performance at Winter Gardens.
Drama, dance and music from pupils of Sheffield schools.
7pm, ‘Promises' play at Vestry Hall, 2 Burngreave Road, S3 9DD
A play written and performed by Sheffield refugees.
Thursday 19th
5pm, Lifeswap Broomhall, at Exeter Drive Flats, Broomhall S3
Cultural exchange activities and food.
Friday 20th
1pm-4pm, Conversation Club Open Day at Croft House, Garden Street, S1 4BJ
Meet people seeking sanctuary in Sheffield.
Saturday 21st
10am-2pm, ‘Different Cultures, One People' celebration, Sharrow Community Hall, Sheffield Utd FC, John Street, S2 4SU
Entertainment, discussion and sport with Sheffield Gateway Protection refugee communities.
12-4pm, Music and Dance in Fargate
Broadcast live on Sheffield Live! FM
7pm, World Over Concert at Victoria Hall, Norfolk St, S1 2JB
Music, poetry and dance in aid of ASSIST.
Sanctuary World Café
We have had to postpone the opening of our world café, which will not take place during Refugee Week. We are still planning to set this up and aiming to run a pilot week in the autumn. We are still looking for volunteers to make this happen. Please let us know if you would like to be involved. Contact nicola@cityofsanctuary.org
