A free one day regional conference to promote Yorkshire and the Humber as a region of safety and sanctuary

Venue: Kala Sangam, St Peter’s House, Forster Square, Bradford BD1 4TY
25th February, 2010 at 9:30am to 3:30pm

This free conference will provide opportunities for City of Sanctuary groups, refugee organisations and local government to share inspirational examples of good practice, and build new coalitions and partnerships across the region.

Speakers and workshop leaders will include:

Jonathan Ellis, Director of Policy, The Refugee Council
Will Sutcliffe, Co-ordinator, Bradford City of Sanctuary
Dr Hannah Lewis, Independent Researcher and author
Jim Steinke, Chief Executive, Northern Refugee Centre
David Brown, Integration Manager, Yorkshire Migration Partnership
Cath Baldock, ASSIST Sheffield
Craig Barnett, National Coordinator, City of Sanctuary

Each delegate may choose up to 2 workshops from:

1. Regional Integration Strategies
2. Destitution and how to tackle it
3. Voucher exchanges and the new card system
4. Becoming up a Town or City of Sanctuary
5. Engaging with Local Authorities
6. Right to Work Campaign

The conference has been organised by Northern Refugee Centre and City of Sanctuary and is funded by Local Government Yorkshire and The Humber, YoHr Space and Capacitybuilders.
