Oxford City of Sanctuary

Oxford City of Sanctuary is a small but ever expanding group of people who would like to see the city grow as a place that promotes safety and inclusion to people seeking refuge and sanctuary here.

We would like to work with local and voluntary organisations, statuatory authorities, faith groups, refugee communities and organisations, schools, businesses and local services, to explore ways in which we can work together as a city to make a practical and positive difference to the lives of people who have come to us for sanctuary.

Oxford City Council Support Bid To Become City of Sanctuary

Oxford City Council this week passed a motion to support Oxford in its bid to become a ‘City of Sanctuary.'

The motion, which was proposed by Cllr John Tanner of the Labour Party and seconded by Sushila Dhall of the Green Party, calls on Oxford City Council to practically support efforts to make Oxford a place of safety for people whose
lives have been threatened and to celebrate the contributions that asylum seekers and refugees make to society.
